STOP looking for your passion

Your passion is right under your nose.

One of the most asked questions that I always receive,

“Edd, how to find our passion?”.

Honestly, when it comes to this type of question, I often become clueless.

Because throughout my life, I had never actually need to find my passion.

They’re just there, in the corner of the room, waiting for me to pick them up.

So when you say, “I have no passion”.

I wonder, aren’t you curious about anything in your life?

Because to me, passion is overrated. If you’re curious enough, there’s always something new to be discovered in your life. Don’t worry about not having passion, worry when you ARE NOT curious. Because nothing is worse than when curiosity stops.

Imagine a small baby. Nobody has to motivate that baby to learn how to walk, or to learn how to play. A baby will naturally explore, because they ARE curious.

Let me tell you this: Curiosity is the engine of passion. I wasn’t naturally passionate about design, or even writing to begin with. I picked up graphic design out of curiosity. I still remember sitting in front of Microsoft Paint for hours, trying to ‘design’ my friend’s blog header.

It didn’t occur to me that designing on Microsoft Paint wasn’t fun to others. I didn’t even realise that me, sitting in front of the computer trying to choose ‘pretty’ colors wasn’t even something that my friends would do.

I believe that all of you do enjoy something. You DO enjoy something, you DO have a passion for something, but you’re not looking at the right thing.

Maybe you’re stuck in the expectation that passion is supposed to make you money. Well, if that’s the case, you’re wrong.

Passion don’t make money, but what you do with your passion — your curiosity, will determine whether you will be paid for it or not.

So be that child again. Stay curious about the unknown. Dream big dreams, live outside the box, take that risk, don’t be afraid to look foolish.

Today, with curiosity, I launched my first e-book. I’ve always been curious about where writing will take me, so I wrote about what I was really good at: Using AI to improve resume to help you uncover how to write the best resume.
